As
I am writing this we are on the brink of Holy Week – the most important week of
the church year. It is a week when we experience the whole range of human
emotion – from celebration and joy; through outrage and bewilderment, hard
choices and wrong choices, courage and cowardice; into abandonment, grief,
despair; and into the wonder and mystery of new life and hope. Each is part of
the story of Jesus. Each is part of the story of our lives – again and again.
Some
journeys are physical – moving down very real, tangible roads to new cities,
new jobs, new homes, new relationships. Other journeys are more internal –
journeys of the heart and soul down an inner landscape. Holy Week is a time for
both. And in the season of Easter that follows, the journey continues as we
explore how to live in the new places we find ourselves.
As you take your next steps in this pilgrimage on the
outer and inner paths before you, I wish you blessing -- and remember that the path you are on, Christ has walked.
